About Al-Chamandar Event In collaboration with novelist Khaled Al Khamissi, we are glad to launch "Al Chamandar" Art Exhibition and Artist Talk with Khaled El Khamissi on Monday 24 February 2020 at 7.00 PM. The Art Exhibition comes as an outcome of 10 days workshop with 17 young artists from Egypt who are visually translating the novel chapters into paintings. A selection of the participants workshop will be exhibited at SHELTER Art Space from 24 February to 1 March 2020. As Shehab Al-Chamandar wrote his biography through paintings. Every chapter depicts a painting, and every painting reflects a critical moment in his life. Al-Chamandar interprets his paintings with vibrant and colorful letters. After the release of 'AL Chamandar" novel SHELTER Art Space and the novelist Khaled Al-Khamissi, they wondered: When can we see paintings from the novel “Al-Chamandar” in an art exhibition? How can we transform the artworks from mere words into a “technicolored palette”? And from thereon, “Visualizing Al-Chamandar – Production Workshop and Exhibition” was launched. The exhibition opens its doors to the public on the 24th of February at 7.00 o’clock in the evening, to present a program that includes an artist talk with the novelist and a reading to some of the novel’s paintings, followed by a discussion with the artists and their overall experience throughout the workshop. The exhibition will continue on until the 1st of March 2020 at 52 SHELTER Art Space, Fouad Avenue, in Alexandria. عن فعالية الشمندر كتب شهاب الشمندر سيرته عبر لوحاته التشكيلية. كل فصل لوحة وكل لوحة لحظة فارقة في أيام حياته. وصف الشمندر لوحاته بحروف ملونة. بعد صدور الرواية وفي حديث دار بين القائمين عن مساحة شلتر للفنون بالإسكندرية والروائي خالد الخميسي، تساءلوا: متى سوف نرى لوحات روايات الشمندر في معرض تشكيليّ؟ كيف نحوّل اللوحات من حروف إلى "بالتة ألوان"؟ وتم إطلاق فعالية "الشمندر" لترجمة رواية الشمندر بصرياً في لوحات تشكيلية. قام شلتر بدعوة الفنانين التشكيليين للمشاركة في ورشة عمل جماعية، بحضور خالد الخميسي. تُتوج الفعالية في ختامها بعرض اللوحات المُنجَزة على لجنة فنّية تنتقي عدداً منها، ويفرد لها شلتر معرضاً يبدأ في 24 فبراير وينتهي 1 مارس ٢٠٢٠. الهدف من المبادرة هو إيجاد فرص إبداعية للفنانين الموهوبين، في إطار تشاركي مع الروائي خالد الخميسي، وإتاحة فرصة للعرض بمساحة شلتر، وخلق لُغة حوار معاصرة تناقش العمل الأدبي وكيف تمت عملية ترجمته لشكل بصريّ. تم طرح دعوة عامة للمشاركة وتقدّم بالفعل 45 فنان/فنانة من مصر، تم قبول 17 منهم للعمل في ورشة جماعية لإنتاج اللوحات، تتخللها ورشة قراءة مع الروائي ومحاورته حول بعض الأفكار الأدبية وكيف تمت صياغتها بصرياً. يفتح المعرض أبوابه للجمهور يوم ٢٤ فبراير في تمام الساعة ٧ مسائاً ليضم حوار مع الكاتب وقراءة لبعض لوحات الرواية ثم منقاشة مع الفنانين عن التجربة. سيستمر المعرض لتاريخ ١ مارس ٢٠٢٠ بقاعة شيلتر للفنون ب ٥٢ شارع فؤاد الإسكندرية.
